Hey! I'm Emily. I was born in Orlando, FL, and am the firstborn child of triplets. In Spring 2020, I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida State University, with a focus in photography and printmaking. I am currently living and making work in Nashville, Tennessee. I am a press operator at Friendly Arctic Print & Design, in addition to working as the in-house photographer at the Nashville Punk Rock Flea Market.
Using photography, my work describes emotional strength using the body. Subjects are aware of the camera and aware of themselves, bringing the viewer into the work through direct gaze. The figures are seen adjacent to urban landscapes filled with vegetation, often nearing sunset or at night. Shadows and light depict the passage of time and bring attention to a transitory period. I aim to create an open dialogue between the subject and viewer, shifting these fleeting moments into permanent occasions. I am most concerned with visibility.
